overworked.

why is it so common in the corporate world to expect underpaid/underappreciated employees to go the ‘extra mile’? like what are you giving me to make me want to go that ‘extra mile’? my salary that doesn’t make me want to spend extra time at my desk. the constant micromanagement that doesn’t allow me to get anything done. like please give me a reason because i can’t find one.

i spent 3 years pretty much working 24/7 for nothing. i didn’t get any praise from my managers, didn’t get a raise for two years, and was constantly told how poor my performance was. well if it was so poor why do you continue to call at 10PM or expect me available around the clock?

i have since left that job, but i told myself for 3 years that this was how it was suppose to be. i was suppose to be miserable at my job for 50 years, try to advance and then retire…if i could even do that. work shouldn’t be about being miserable. i’m sick of being miserable, so i’m gonna make some changes and maybe i’ll be my own boss.

but honestly, never let an employer, a boss, a manager, or a co-worker make you feel like you’re not worth anything. they can fuck right off.
